Join us for a guided tour of a truly unique and long-loved community space. For the past 30 years, the Sterrett Middle School Garden in Point Breeze has served as both a living classroom and a peaceful sanctuary—thanks to the dedication of longtime volunteer Howard Aiken, who has lovingly overseen its design and care from the beginning.
Originally funded by a grant from the Western Pennsylvania Conservancy, this garden features a rich collection of medicinal herbs and native plants, with over 100 species. It's a space designed to inspire students and engage the wider community, offering a chance to see how education, ecology, and local stewardship can beautifully intersect.
Maintained by volunteers and supported by individual contributions, this garden is a quiet gem—and Howard’s insights and stories make the tour even more meaningful.
Come discover the power of plants and people working together to create something lasting and educational!
