Join us for a special group hike celebrating the beauty and impact of the Native Plant Butterfly Trail at Moraine State Park—a site with deep roots in native plant education and habitat restoration. This year marks 30 years since the trail’s creation, and we’re thrilled to explore it together.

Located on 13 acres of scenic lakeshore, this charming looped trail winds through woodlands, prairie, and wetland habitats, showcasing demonstration gardens filled with native plants. You’ll also find bridges, a boardwalk, a gazebo (with a surprising ceiling!), and even recent handiwork from the local beaver residents.

Wild Ones member Ed Keiser, who oversees the trail maintenance alone with members of the Butler County Master Gardeners, will be our guide and will share insights along the way.

This is a great chance to see how native plants support wildlife, spark inspiration for your own garden, and enjoy a walk through a truly special place.

Bring water, wear sturdy shoes, and be prepared to hike approximately 2 miles in total, a few areas of the trails have rough, uneven, or muddy surfaces.
