More about Robert:
Robert Coxe, age 54, grew up in Raleigh, NC. During his middle and high school years, he worked as a Junior Curator volunteer at the North Carolina State Museum of Natural Sciences. He graduated with honors from
UNC-Asheville with a B.A. in Biology (Plant Systematics), an M.S. Biology (Plant Ecology) from UNC-Charlotte, and earned additional credit towards a Ph.D at West Virginia University in Forest Ecology. Robert has worked as a Research Scientist at UNC-Chapel Hill and the Biota of North America Program (BONAP) working on a plant polyclave of the North American Flora, as an ecologist with the Western Pennsylvania Conservancy, and most
recently as the State Ecologist for the State of Delaware.
He is also a former President of the Pennsylvania Academy of Science. Currently, Robert is currently a co-owner and innkeeper for the McMullen House Bed & Breakfast LLC in Titusville, PA, and and an owner/web designer for Silphium Design LLC. As part of their mission, the owners of McMullen House Bed & Breakfast LLC strive to educate the public on the science of the natural world. The historic McMullen House, c. 1870, is surrounded by
beautiful native butterfly and pollinator gardens, and includes a plant nursery where visitors can learn about and purchase native plants. The shop page of McMullen House (shop.mcmullenhouse.com) has a
blog on butterflies and native plants covering plants, butterflies, and gardens worldwide. Robert’s web design firm, Silphium Design concentrates on design for environmental conservation organizations and related businesses.
